Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures(R) Kids’ Initiative Visits Los Angeles. Month-long educational campaign addresses oral health deficiencies that disproportionately affect Hispanics
Association officially declared April El Mes de la
Sonrisas Saludables (Oral Health Month: A World of Healthy Smiles(R)) as part
of an ongoing commitment to quality oral care among the Hispanic community.
The Latino population has the lowest incidence of dental visits when compared
to any other ethnicity and ranks the highest for untreated dental caries among
children, according to a 2007 study by the National Center for Health
Statistics for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(1).
In response to the low number of annual Hispanic dental visits, Colgate is
providing free dental screenings for disadvantaged children at select
retailers throughout
Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures(R) kids’ initiative. Essentially, the
educational campaign is structured to remind Hispanics that prevention is less
costly than treatment and as such, strong oral health habits at home are
extremely important.
